Cancellations and Refunds

This policy explains your cancellation and refund rights when you buy a Full Vehicle Report from MOT Check Now. It follows the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. It does not reduce any statutory right you have.

Short version: the report is digital content delivered instantly. Once you start the download with your express agreement, the 14-day right to cancel no longer applies. If a report is faulty, not as described or never arrives, you are entitled to a remedy, and we will put it right.

What you are buying

The Full Vehicle Report is a digital product. We generate a PDF for the registration number you enter, and you receive a download link straight after payment, which we also email to you. The price is shown at checkout. See our terms for what the report includes and what it does not, such as finance, stolen or write-off data.

The 14-day cancellation right and digital content

Normally, when you buy online, you can cancel within 14 days of the contract being made. For digital content, that right is lost once the download or supply has begun, if you gave your express consent to it starting and acknowledged that you would lose the right to cancel.

At checkout we ask you to confirm both points before you pay. Because the report is delivered instantly, you agree it can begin immediately, and once the download begins, you cannot cancel under the 14-day right. This applies whether you opened the link or not, once the content has been made available to you in the way you consented to.

If, for any reason, the delivery has not started, you can cancel within 14 days of your order by emailing the contact page with your order number, and we will refund you.

When you are entitled to a refund or replacement

Whether or not the cancellation right applies, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described. You are entitled to a remedy if:

  • The report is faulty: for example, the file will not open, is corrupted, or is missing sections we say it contains.
  • The report is not as described: for example, it is for a different vehicle from the registration you entered, because of an error on our side.
  • The report never arrives: you paid but did not receive a working download link or email.

In these cases we will first try to repair or replace the report, for example by regenerating it. If we cannot fix it, or you do not receive it, we will refund you.

What is not a fault

A report that is correct but disappoints you is not faulty. In particular:

  • the report reflects the official DVSA and DVLA records at the time it was produced, and if those records are incomplete or out of date, that is a limit of the source;
  • it does not include finance, stolen or write-off data, as stated before you buy;
  • mileage and risk comments are indicators drawn from recorded readings, not proof of clocking or fault;
  • entering the wrong registration number by mistake can mean you receive a report for a different vehicle. If that happens, please contact us promptly and we will look at what is fair.

The free tools, such as the MOT check and MOT history, show a lot of the same underlying data, and you can try them before you buy.

How to ask for a refund or replacement

  1. Email the contact page, or use the contact page.
  2. Include your order number, the email address used for the order and the registration number.
  3. Describe the problem. A screenshot of any error helps.

We will reply as soon as we reasonably can. If a repair or replacement is not possible, or you are entitled to a refund, we will refund the amount paid using the original payment method, and without undue delay. If you cancel within the 14-day period before delivery begins, we will refund you within 14 days of receiving your cancellation. The time your bank takes to show the refund is outside our control.

Failed delivery

If your payment was taken but the report did not arrive, first check your spam or junk folder, since the delivery email may have been filtered. If it is not there, contact us with your order number. We will resend the link or regenerate the report, and if we cannot deliver it, we will refund you in full.

If vehicle data fails to load

Sometimes the official data services are temporarily unavailable, which can leave part of a report blank or delayed. If this happens, tell us and we will regenerate the report once the data is available. If we cannot provide a complete report, you can ask for a refund.

Your other rights

This policy sits alongside your legal rights as a consumer, which we cannot and do not limit. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution service or take advice from Citizens Advice. Our privacy policy explains how we handle the personal data involved in a refund request.
