These terms govern your use of MOT Check Now, including our free vehicle checkers and our paid Full Vehicle Report. By using the site or buying a report, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Who we are
MOT Check Now is operated by MOT Check Now. You can reach us at the contact page or through the contact page. These terms should be read with our privacy policy, cookie policy, refund policy and disclaimer.
What the service is
MOT Check Now lets you enter a UK vehicle registration number and see information about the vehicle drawn from official sources. The free tools include the MOT check, MOT history, car tax check, SORN check, ULEZ checker, Clean Air Zone checker and mileage check. We also offer a paid Full Vehicle Report and a free MOT reminder.
The service is for UK-registered vehicles and for personal and ordinary commercial use by adults aged 18 or over.
We are independent
MOT Check Now is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the DVLA, the DVSA, GOV.UK or any government body. We use their publicly available data services. We do not display government logos and do not suggest any official approval.
Accuracy of information
The information we show comes from the DVSA MOT history service and the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service. We present it as supplied. It may be incomplete, delayed or contain errors, and we cannot correct official records. Our own analysis, such as mileage flags and Euro-status based ULEZ or Clean Air Zone estimates, is an indicator only and is not proof of anything.
The service is not a substitute for a physical inspection of a vehicle, an independent history check covering finance, theft or insurance write-offs (which our reports do not include), or professional mechanical, legal or financial advice. Before you rely on a result for a purchase, journey or legal decision, check it against the official source. Please read our disclaimer for more detail.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use scripts, bots, scrapers or other automated means to query the site, or run bulk or high-volume lookups;
- copy, harvest or resell our data or reports in bulk, or build a competing database from them;
- use the service to harass, stalk, threaten or locate any person, or for any unlawful purpose;
- try to bypass our security, rate limits or payment process, or interfere with the site’s operation;
- give false details when ordering or contacting us.
We may limit, suspend or block access if we believe these rules are being broken or if usage threatens the service for others.
Paid reports
The Full Vehicle Report costs £3.99, or the price shown at checkout if different. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay, and it includes VAT where VAT applies. The report is a digital product for the registration number you enter. It covers the full MOT timeline, mileage chart and analysis, recurring advisories, tax, MOT and vehicle details, and a plain-English risk summary. It does not include finance, stolen vehicle or write-off data.
After payment, the report is delivered instantly as a PDF download, and a link is also emailed to the address you provide. Please check the registration number carefully before you pay, because the report is generated for the number entered. Payments are handled by Stripe through our checkout, and we do not store your card details.
Your cancellation and refund rights for digital content are set out in our refund policy. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Intellectual property and data licence
The design, text, software and analysis on MOT Check Now belong to MOT Check Now or its licensors. You may use a report you buy for your own personal or business use, but you must not republish, resell or distribute our content commercially without our written permission.
Vehicle data is sourced from DVSA and DVLA. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Availability
We try to keep the service running, but it depends on third-party data services that we do not control. We do not promise that the site will always be available, error free or uninterrupted. We may change, suspend or withdraw any feature at any time.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Subject to that, and because the free tools are provided at no charge using third-party data:
- we are not liable for losses that were not a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach;
- we are not liable for loss caused by errors or gaps in official data, or by your decision to buy, sell, travel or drive based on a result without checking the official source;
- if you are a business user, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill, and our total liability for any claim relating to a paid report is limited to the price you paid for that report.
If you are a consumer and a report is faulty or not as described, you have legal rights to a repair, replacement or refund, and our refund policy explains how to claim.
Third-party links
We may link to official sites such as GOV.UK or Transport for London. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page applies when you use the service, and an order is governed by the terms in force when you placed it.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
